For the last time this week, Nancy Blackett’s current crew waved a tearful goodbye to Veere’s excellent croissant shop, writes Nick Ardagh-Walter…
The croissant shop is set amongst Veere’s historic buildings, which were funded by its 16th century status as the sole import route for Scottish wool.
We made our way upwind to the head of Versemeer, which is separated from the North Sea by a huge sea wall. We had some excellent sailing with the jib and mainsail with two reefs, before heading to lock. The radio was successfully used to request the lock opening, before we mainly motored back to Middelburg harbour.
