Arthur Ransome Literary Estate (ARLE)
The Arthur Ransome Literary Estate owns the copyrights of Arthur Ransome’s works and the UK trademark of “Swallows and Amazons”.
Arthur Ransome (1884-1967) is best known for his series of twelve “Swallows and Amazons” books, and bequeathed royalties and income from his works to the Royal Literary Fund.

The Arthur Ransome Society (TARS)
The Arthur Ransome Society, established in 1990, has around a thousand members of all ages. It hosts various events and activities in the UK and abroad.
Its publications cover new research and promote events, while it also has a members’ library and an archive of Ransome-related items.
The Society holds a biennial Literary Weekend featuring talks on Ransome’s works and life and offers members access to new books about Ransome, while also owning two dinghies featured in the 1974 film of Swallows & Amazons, available for public hire.

Arthur Ransome Trust (ART)
The Arthur Ransome Trust is a registered charity that exists to help people discover, explore and enjoy Arthur Ransome’s fascinating life and works.
It is working towards creating a Ransome Centre in the Lake District using legacies, exhibitions, events, educational materials, early Ransome works and “Swallows and Amazons” merchandise. Its online shop supplies these, together with various editions of Ransome’s twelve children’s novels.
Royalties from sales of ART’s licensed books and products support the Royal Literary Fund.
