Swallows and Amazons / York Theatre Royal.

With two weeks of the summer holidays still to go, there are still plenty of Swallows and Amazons activities left to do, some of which continue into the autumn or beyond.

For theatre-goers, Swallows and Amazons the musical is on stage at York’s Theatre Royal until August 24th, while the Windermere Jetty Museum has Swallows and Amazons retold daily at 2pm in Tales at Two.

Peel Island, Coniston Water / David Smith, Geograph.

Swallows and Amazons cruises are available on Coniston Water every Monday and Wednesday until September 25th, while there’s a special marathon reading of Pigeon Post in Coniston’s Coppermines Valley on September 29th.

Sailing cruises on Nancy Blackett can still be requested by members of the Nancy Blackett Trust until mid-October (subject to availability), while exhibitions continue to the year’s end about Selina King in Pin Mill and Swallows and Amazons film props in Keswick.

And finally, the Arthur Ransome Walking Trail along the River Orwell is open year-round.
