Nancy Blackett at the 2012 AGM (Part 2) (Photos)
The weather held out after the AGM until the evening dinner, so there was time for a final early evening cruise on Nancy Blackett, albeit in blustery conditions. See our Flickr photoset for more.

Saturday’s weather in Suffolk mostly defied the dire predictions of the forecasters, and the AGM, followed by Julia Jones’ fascinating talk and Claudia Myatt’s artful masterclass, were mostly treated to summer-like sunshine, while those lucky members onboard the Nancy Blackett were also treated to unseasonal gusts of wind. With only a few days left to go until the Nancy Blackett Trust's 15th AGM and Summer Social, there are still a few remaining opportunities left for members to sail the Nancy Blackett during the day. Back onshore, the guest speaker will be Julia Jones, the owner of Peter Duck and the author of the […]
Nancy Blackett is finally back home in her berth at Woolverstone, with no problems. Being at last able to take advantage of some viable sailing weather, Nancy Blackett, in the capable charge of Skipper Phil Durnford, sailed from Chatham to Brightlingsea yesterday afternoon and evening, before arriving back at Woolverstone this morning. Conditions were a […]
Nancy Blackett's brief appearance in a film is in the can. Two days of filming (mostly interiors) were completed at Woolverstone in February. These were followed by a trip down to the Medway for sailing sequences shot at Queenborough in late March. The shooting was successful and the Trust's bank balance has been improved as […]
Nancy Blackett and her crew have been out enjoying sailing all week, still as active on the water as ever, and 81 years young. They enjoyed taking part in some filming earlier in the week (with at least 10 people onboard, and a large film support team on accompanying boats) before circumnavigating the Isle of Sheppey […]
Nancy Blackett's 2012 season had a freezing start today in a "Winter Holiday" setting. Looking very cold, yet picturesque, in the snow at Robertson's in Woodbridge, she is due to be fitted out later this week, in time to allow for a weekend return to her usual home at Woolverstone, as an early season adventure […]
Nancy Blackett's 2011 season drew to a close in brilliant weather last weekend with an excellent working-party day, following a final couple of days cruising in the Stour and Orwell. Below are some pictures of Nancy berthed in the Tide Mill at Woodbridge, taken by Nicola Key.
Nancy Blackett's autumn cruise has been a fairly eventful one so far. Last weekend saw a return trip to Harwich Harbour, leaving Woolverstone on Saturday morning and returning on Sunday. After Monday's gales (and the day out at Flatford Mill), Tuesday afternoon saw her motoring upriver to Ipswich before sailing under headsails to Shotley. Today […]
So just where has this sailing season gone? Nancy Blackett is now on her last adventure of the season, the nine-day autumn cruise, culminating in the end-of-season laying-up event and dinner at Woodbridge on Saturday. At the moment, Nancy is sheltering near Manningtree on the River Stour, but with it gusting up to force 8 […]
Following on from their visit to see Nancy Blackett last month, here are some photos of Noriko and Mikiko taken by Skipper John Smith. Noriko and Makiko "Coot Club" in Japanese "Coot Club" in Japanese Makiko and "Coot Club" Noriko and Makiko entertain
Last week the Nancy Blackett welcomed two very special guests who had travelled halfway around the world from Japan for a chance to sail her and see some of the places that feature in Arthur Ransome's novels. Noriko Tanabe and Mikiko Nakamura are members of the Japanese Arthur Ransome Club, and for Noriko in particular, […]
