An oil painting of Nancy Blackett by Geoff Hunt, Britain’s foremost marine artist, is to be auctioned at the Nancy Blackett Trust’s AGM on 16th July. Geoff Hunt, a past president of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, specialises in interpretations of historic naval vessels; his cover artwork for Patrick O’Brien’s novels is well-known and he painted the definitive representation of the Mary Rose for the Mary Rose Trust in 2009.

This painting of Nancy was executed as a demonstration of work on the Classic Boat stand at the London Boat Show, 9th January 2011. It is unfinished and unsigned, but comes with confirmatory provenance, and is a detailed and charming representation of our beloved boat. The painting is in oils on board, unframed, 222" x 18" (c. 56cm x 46cm). The auction is due to take place at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club on the afternoon of 16th July, from approximately 2pm.
