Rod Webb reports on the start of Nancy Blackett’s final week in Holland…

The new crew, Dave Hart, Adam Pentelow and I had all reached Nancy Blackett in Middelburg, and joined Paul Wray on board, by late Saturday afternoon. Nancy was looking very well cared for.

We started our week with an excellent meal at the restaurant next door to the yacht club. A short sail on Sunday morning seemed appropriate because thundery showers were forecast for the afternoon, so we took the canal to the Veerse Meer and sailed to Kortgene.

There was a gusty wind exacerbated by the gaps in the woodland on the banks, so we gybed our way down the channel with care. We tied up in the Delta marina moments before a downpour, but the weather brightened up soon after.

Our current plan, subject to change at the skipper’s whim, is to depart from Vlissingen on Friday and take the afternoon tide up the Orwell on Saturday.
