You can now listen to yesterday's edition of BBC Radio 4's Open Country, featuring an interview with Arthur Ransome's cousin Richard Ransome, who describes how his own Lakeland childhood was not that different from the adventures of the Swallows and the Amazons, but feels that the magic element of imagination seems to be missing from the adventures of today.

The programme also features trail running on Helvellyn, a demonstration of ghyll running and meets some adventurers of the fells and screes, and is presented by Helen Mark.
