The fourth day of Nancy Blackett’s voyage to St Katharine Dock in London saw an early start, leaving Queenborough on the Isle of Sheppey at 6am yesterday after a night of heavy rain, and heading up the River Thames while avoiding further showers.

Nancy Blackett passed the busy Thames Gateway container terminal and headed to Gravesend, pausing to view Tilbury Fort, the scene of Elizabeth I’s review at time of the Armada. The cruise terminal had no ships but confusing messages of “Bon Voyage” and “Welcome Back”.

After passing under the Dartford Bridge and the M25, while avoiding a tanker leaving the RORO terminal, the Jubilee Trust ‘s Tenacious passed Nancy heading downriver. Finally, after a slow final passage against the tide, she arrived at her overnight mooring off Erith Sailing Club and the waste disposal site on the other bank.
