Supper bookings for the Brian Hammett Memorial Talk this Friday (18th March) are now closed, but a limited number of £12 seat-only tickets remain available.
Presented by the Nancy Blackett Trust and TARS East, the talk will be given by Julia Jones, present owner of Arthur Ransome’s Peter Duck, and well-known East Coast sailor and a writer, editor, historian and publisher. Her new book Uncommon Courage chronicles the exploits and contributions to the war effort of the many amateur East Coast yachtsmen of the newly-formed Royal Naval Volunteer Supplementary Reserve at the beginning of World War II.
The Brian Hammett Memorial Talk takes place at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club, Woolverstone IP9 1AT, on Friday 18th March 2022.
Doors open at 6pm for a 6.30pm start, with the limited number of remaining seat-only tickets are priced at £12.00. They are on sale HERE.
The Brian Hammett Memorial Talk is held in memory of Brian Hammett, who died in 2018. He was a Trustee and Vice-President of the Nancy Blackett Trust, as well as a leading member of The Arthur Ransome Society, the Old Gaffers Association and the Cruising Association. He re-edited Ransome’s book Racundra’s First Cruise, and prepared its proposed follow-up, Racundra’s Third Cruise for its first publication in 2018.
Members of Brian’s other clubs, the OGA, CA and the RHYC are invited to join us.
