Sophie Neville will be in conversation online with Lakeland Arts during the evening of December 1st to help celebrate the 90th anniversary of the publication of Arthur Ransome’s best known story Swallows and Amazons.

Sophie played the role of ‘Titty Walker’ in the 1974 film adaptation of Swallows and Amazons, and has since become a leading figure in sharing the story of both the book and the film, including, more recently, being President of the Arthur Ransome Society.

Sophie will be in conversation with Lakeland Arts’ Learning Officer, Natasha Scullion, speaking about her experience of working on the film, Arthur Ransome, the enduring popularity of the story and its links to the boat collection at the Windermere Jetty Museum.

The event will take place online from 6pm to 7:15pm on Tuesday 1st December. Tickets can be bought here for £5 (but are free for Members of Lakeland Arts). Ticket holders will receive a link to the event by e-mail by 5pm on the day.

You can find out more about Sophie Neville, her career and links to Swallows and Amazons on her website, while you can buy her book about The Making of Swallows and Amazons from the Nancy Blackett Shop.
