The classic TV documentary A Voyage with Nancy Blackett is back in the Nancy Blackett Shop, now as a DVD – but supplies are strictly limited.

The half-hour programme was made for Anglia TV in 1992 and features Nancy Blackett sailing on the River Orwell and the Walton Backwaters, with commentary from Christina Hardyment, Roger Wardale and others. Local children took part in dramatisations of We Didn’t Mean to Go to Sea and Secret Water – some of them revisited Nancy Blackett recently, and there will be a forthcoming story about that, too.

The documentary was originally made available to the Nancy Blackett Trust by its producer and director Charles Mapleston for a limited-edition release on VHS video cassettes. It proved very popular, but following the demise of video tape, the remaining cassettes have now been replaced by DVD discs. However once these have gone – that’s it!
