“The Making of Swallows and Amazons (1974)” by Sophie Neville

The original film adaptation of Arthur Ransome’s “Swallows and Amazons” returns to the BBC this Sunday 30th August .

The 1974 film will be available to watch here on iPlayer for 30 days, following a repeat broadcast on BBC2 at 12:20pm.

The behind-the-scenes story of the film is told in the book “The Making of Swallows and Amazons” by Sophie Neville, who starred as Titty Walker in the film.
