You can now catch up with the recent online marathon reading of Arthur Ransome’s The Picts and the Martyrs, the fourth marathon reading from the Swallows and Amazons series to have taken place in the past four years.

The event was organised by writer and lecturer Chris Routledge, who was also behind the live readings in the Lake District of Swallows and Amazons in 2017 and Pigeon Post in 2019. This time, the presence of the global pandemic provided the opportunity for an international marathon reading with readers on both sides of the Atlantic recording their assigned chapters at home, including some well-known names like Christina Hardyment and Sophie Neville.

The entire marathon reading can be heard here chapter by chapter until the end of August.

You can also find a full-length audiobook at Audible, while you can buy a paperback edition of The Picts and the Martyrs from the Nancy Blackett Shop.
