Nancy Blackett is well on her way to the Solent in readiness for the upcoming AGM’s of both the Nancy Blackett Trust and the Arthur Ransome Society, reports John Smith.
Under the capable watch of skipper Robin Sadler, Nancy Blackett departed from Woolverstone Marina at 3:20am on Sunday 5th May, crossing the Thames Estuary to arrive in Ramsgate at 5pm. Monday saw a slow passage over a lumpy sea to Eastbourne’s Sovereign Harbour, only arriving at 2am today (7th May).
Following a much deserved rest day in Eastbourne, the crew hope to arrive in the Solent by Sunday, possibly aiming for Port Hamble.
Nancy Blackett will remain in the Solent for members’ sailing for the next few weeks (subject to skipper and mate availabilty) to coincide with the Arthur Ransome Society’s IAGM on May 26th in Lymington, and the Nancy Blackett Trust’s AGM in Swanwick on June 16th.
