The first of this year’s amateur theatre productions of Arthur Ransome’s “Swallows and Amazons” are taking place in London and the Orkney Isles.

The Deerness Drama Group in Orkney is presenting the Helen Edmundson adapation, with songs by Neil Hannon, at the Deerness Hall tonight and tomorrow at 7:30pm. It has proven very popular with tonight’s performance being sold out and a few tickets remaining for Saturday’s show.

Photos of the production are below and on the Deerness Drama Group’s Facebook page.

Meanwhile, next week sees five performances of “Swallows and Amazons” at the Backstage Theatre at Mountview in Peckham, London, from Wednesday 13th to Saturday 16th February.

This production of the Helen Edmundson adaption is by the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, and directed by Steve Grihault, Mountview’s Head of Acting.

Full price tickets are £15, with discounts for concessions and Southwark residents, and are still available for evening performances at 7:30pm on 13th, 15th and 16th February, as well as the Saturday matinee at 2pm.
