Pin Mill is featured in a limited print which is to be auctioned at the AGM of the Nancy Blackett Trust at the end of this month – as a special fundraising event for the charity.

Flying Fortress by Bill Perring (click to enlarge).

As part of the late Peter Aitchison’s bequest to the Nancy Blackett Trust, this limited edition print of aviation artist Bill Perring’s ‘Flying Fortress!’ shows a damaged USAF bomber flying over Pin Mill as it returns from a 1944 raid to land at Woodbridge. In the foreground, on the dinghy, are four children intended by the artist to reference the ‘Swallows’ in “We Didn’t Mean to Go to Sea”.

The print is framed and glazed, and measures 74x52cm (29×21.5in) overall. It will be sold by auction at the Nancy Blackett Trust’s AGM on 30th June 2018 at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club, Woolverstone, Suffolk.

Commission bids will be accepted: if you can’t be present at the AGM on the day, simply send your maximum bid online or by post. The painting will go to the highest bidder at a £1 increment over the next highest bid.

Submit your online bid here by 28th June 2018, or alternatively you can post your bid, with your name, address, phone number to Peter Willis (NBT), Creek View, School Lane, Martlesham, Woodbridge IP12 4RR.

You can also read the artist’s own commentary here.
