A new stage version of “Swallows and Amazons” will be performed this summer in Chester, at both the Storyhouse and Grosvenor Open Air Theatres, reports Broadway World.

Written by award-winning playwright Bryony Lavery, and directed by Katie Posner, “Swallows and Amazons” is Arthur Ransome’s 1930’s story of adventure and childhood.

Alex Clifton, artistic director of Storyhouse, said ‘We are delighted and privileged that Bryony is adapting “Swallows and Amazons” for our summer season in Chester. Storyhouse seeks to work with the theatre industry’s most talented artists and present their work to our growing audiences. Bryony’s “Swallows and Amazons” is full of the spirit and joy of the original, injected with Bryony’s wit and creative heart: it will be wonderful to see it on both Storyhouse’s stage and outdoors at Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre’.

“Swallows and Amazons” is at Storyhouse from 1st to 30th June, before transferring to the Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre from 14th July – 26th August.

Bookings can be made for the Storyhouse performances here and the Grosvenor Park performances here.
