There’s just one day to go to our Marathon Reading of “We Didn’t Mean to Go to Sea”, starting at 9am tomorrow (Saturday 21st October).

In honour of the book’s 80th anniversary (first published in November 1937), we have a First Edition book; our readers, including Griff Rhys Jones, Libby Purves and Sophie Neville; our venue: Pin Mill Sailing Club, where Ransome was a member; and a lectern.

We also have a poster, which you can see in all its glory below.

Naturally, we need you to be in the audience – so please come along for all or part of the day, to enjoy hearing some great writing and to encourage our readers.

Entry is free, and you can come and go as you please. The programme can be downloaded here (PDF, 2MB).

If you are using social media on the day, please use the #pinmill hashtag.
