Peter Willis sheds some light on the most recent adventures of Nancy Blackett and her crew…

Following Wednesday’s cracking sail on the Oosterschelde, we enjoyed a convivial drink with fellow Brits John and Margaret from Levington, before repairing to Sint-Annaland marina’s excellent restaurant, where some of us enjoyed its oysters and a fantastic main course dish of smoked eel in a herb sauce with samphire. (They also had excellent omelettes for those of the vegetarian persuasion.) We also watched a yacht race while eating.

This morning we set off for Zierikzee, via a half-hour of hard rain and the lifting section of the bridge (so we still don’t know if Nancy Blackett will fit under a fixed arch). We moored up at the De Haven in the canal, where they gave us an alongside mooring rather than a dreaded ‘box’. We then celebrated with our first glass of Geneva at the friendly clubhouse.
