Nancy Blackett’s continuing Dutch adventure had a distinctly land-based turn today, as Skipper Bryan Davies recounts…

“Today was one of those frustrating go/no-go days. Force 5 winds with stronger gusts from our intended destination led us to decide that the prudent course was to stay in Wemeldinge.

“The crew divided into two parties: the walkers and the cake-eaters, with the former walking six miles or so to a nearby oyster fishing village, and the latter staying aboard to consume the delicious fruit cake left for us by the previous crew. The walkers were of course entirely magnanimous about this fact on their return.

“A promising forecast  for tomorrow should mean that some proper sailing will get done. Meanwhile Nancy Blackett has acquired several new Dutch admirers who are impressed by her pristine turn-out this year.”
