The latest news from Nancy Blackett’s Dutch adventure:

For today’s update skipper Richard Wainwright wrote: “Yesterday evening we dined royally with Wild Cat in the Veere yacht club. We have now just had a fantastic sail down from Veere nearly to the lock/ bridge from the Veerse Meer into the East Scheldt. Winds varying from 2 to 6. We are now in a box in Kortgene marina where they are most welcoming.”

Robin Sadler added: “Great day sailing – first non-tidal I’ve done for years! Still breezy – allowed us to do 6.2 knots.”

Roger Sturge, skippering the Wild Cat, later said: Wild Cat has gone straight to Goes.  We had planned to go a bit further up the Oosterschelde, but Goes is most convenient for (the changeover) and (we) could use some time for some serious planning and preparation for our voyage through the canals to Amsterdam. We’ll stay in Goes until the changeover if we can. It would be good to greet the incoming crew, before we go.
“Managing locks and box moorings with two of is going to need a certain degree of slickness!  So we’ll be glad of a bit of space to think it all through tomorrow… De Werf marina here in Goes is a delight. Two beautiful small  tree-lined yacht basins with all wood fittings and Dik the havenmeester is great.”
