Nancy Blackett continued her Dutch adventures today, with the weather looking generally better for the rest of the week.

The latest dispatches from skipper Richard Wainwright were received earlier this afternoon, and read:

“Interesting meeting in Middelburg with a native of Scarborough who remembers seeing Nancy there about 30 years ago in very poor shape prior to her rescue. Nancy Blackett is now moored in the canal marina in Veere after another stormy motor down from Middelburg.”

Nancy Blackett Trust Chairman Roger Sturge, accompanying Nancy Blackett in Wild Cat, later added:

Wild Cat is fine. We managed the small lock without too much difficulty but then had our first experience of box mooring in the Veere marina which is between the lock and the lake. Wind is still blowing – gusting 20 knots just now – but the sun is out with blue sky and puffy clouds. We hope the wind will ease tomorrow. Nancy is staying in the Veerse Meer… Wild Cat will… join up again with Nancy in Goes but to give us plenty of time to get north we may not stay on to see the new crew aboard. It’s great fun to be sailing with Nancy. She’s looking brilliant and I was enormously impressed with how well she was behaving in the Sunday evening weather. We also have very good social times together with the two crews.”
