Members of the Nancy Blackett Trust and the Arthur Ransome Society can now receive a 10% discount if they stay at The Cottage at Hill Top, Arthur Ransome's last home, near Haverthwaite.

The Ransomes first rented Hill Top during the summer of 1956 before finally buying it in 1960. They then started a programme of substantial improvements to convert it from a summer retreat into a proper home.

Owned and operated by Stephen and Janine Sykes, the Cottage at Hill Top was created from a substantial portion of the house. It comprises spacious self-catering accommodation for four people, while being set in two acres of ground that include paddocks, woodland and formal gardens, and commanding panoramic views from the central Lakeland fells to Morecambe Bay.

The discount for NBT and TARS members is only available when booking direct with Stephen and Janine – their telephone number is 01539 531452.
