Apart from the events in the United Kingdom to mark the 130th Anniversary of Arthur Ransome's birth on Saturday, other parts of the world have not been left out.

In Melbourne, Australia, members of the Arthur Ransome Society will be celebrating Arthur Ransome's birthday after their AGM, while New Zealand members marked the occasion in advance last weekend with a proper expedition. Co-ordinator Cheryl Paget reported that TARSNZ members sailed under Auckland Harbour Bridge, watched sharks and walked to the top of the dormant volcano Rangitoto.

While the Arthur Ransome Club of Japan has no special events planned, co-ordinator Mikako Tarashima was able to report that they plan to hold a small exhibition this year to coincide with the completion of the new Japanese translations of Arthur Ransome's saga.

Similarly there are no commemorative events planned in North America. However, "Swallows and Amazons" fans will be pleased to know that the musical "Swallows and Amazons" will be performed in St. Louis, MO on January 25th and 26th by the Centre of Creative Arts (COCA). Produced by the COCA Theater Company, the musical is directed by Alec Wild (SDC) and Shanara Gabrielle (AEA, SAG-AFTRA), with musical direction by Neal Richardson. The cast includes professional St. Louis actors Maria Knasel, Steve Isom, Taylor Pietz and Pete Winfrey.
