A cinema release date has been announced for the film for which Nancy Blackett did some scenes earlier this year. The date (possibly still provisional at this stage) is Friday 19th October. No actual venues have been announced.
The film also has a new title. Called "Bomb" at the time of Nancy's filming, it is now titled "Ginger and Rosa" after its two leading characters. The film is set against a backdrop of the Cuban missile crisis of 1962, so a release this autumn would be appropriate.
More details will be announced when known.
The film happened to come to a new venue nearby so I had to go and see Nancy. While in the cabin someone comments on how wonderful small spaces are, but the cosiness I feel in reality doesn't really come through. But then, he does go on to say 'unless it's a prison' and the talk turns gloomy! Not a bad film – the young lead is very good – but a lot of the dialogue seemed rather 'deadpan' and slow. Not sure if this is intentional or because the non-British actors are concentrating on their accents.
