You can support the Nancy Blackett Trust by making a donation or leaving us a legacy…

Donations

We need on average £10,000 per year to just maintain Nancy Blackett, while the Trust is entirely managed by unpaid volunteers, including the skippers, crews and trustees.

You can make a single or a regular donation by clicking on the link below:

If you intend to regularly donate more than £25.00 per year, please consider joining the Nancy Blackett Trust instead.

Legacies

Leaving a legacy and remembering the Nancy Blackett Trust in your will.

Any legacy gift makes a big difference to a small charity like the Nancy Blackett Trust. In a normal year memberships and donations exceed £14,000 but this is often not enough to meet the annual cost of boat maintenance and mooring, without any sailing at all.

We are dependent on other fund raising (such as the shop and raffle) to meet unplanned expenditure and to provide reserves to meet future costs or special projects. Remembering the Nancy Blackett Trust in your will helps us do that.

Although a will need not be complex, it is wise to seek professional advice so that your wishes can be carried out. Depending on your individual situation, a charitable donation can also be tax efficient for your other beneficiaries.

Ways of making a gift

You can make the gift unrestricted (meaning that you give us flexibility in using the funds) or restricted (for a particular purpose). If you intend to restrict the legacy it may be worth contacting us to make sure we would be able to carry this out.

The gift can be a fixed sum of money. It can be a proportion or share of your estate (a residuary bequest) usually after other bequests are made. It can also be a specific bequest of personal possessions, but it is important to know that the Nancy Blackett Trust might not be able to keep any specific item.

If you already have a will and wish to add a gift, you can do this by making a codicil to your will. Again it is prudent to seek professional advice if there are substantial changes to an existing will.

The contact address for the Nancy Blackett Trust should be confirmed by the Charity Commission’s official record of the Trust.
